Collaborative construction of digital storytelling in the subject of Ancient Greek literature in a blended learning environment
Summary:
In the frame of this research project, the collaborative construction of digital storytelling in the subject of Ancient Greek literature was explored, in a blended learning environment. This research intervention was structured in one synchronous phase and one asynchronous and two groups, consisting of two students each, participated. During the synchronous phase, the collaborative construction of digital comics took place, and during the asynchronous phase, the aforementioned products were evaluated by the students. The research questions that were posed regard the surfacing issues during the construction of the digital comics and the way they are imprinted on the products, as well as if and in which extent the collaborative construction of knowledge in the asynchronous discussion was achieved. The findings indicated as primary surfacing issues during the construction of the digital comics the form and the content, the processing of which, according to the bibliography, promotes the understanding and the consolidation of knowledge. Also, from the sum of the surfacing issues, the added pedagogical value of the digital comic creation instrument emerged. Those issues were captured in an important degree in the products, while regarding the asynchronous communication of the students, dialogical collaboration between the students was found, and a substantial degree of collaborative knowledge construction was achieved.
