Theology and environmental (Ethics of environmental of Orthodox Theology, risks that inadvertent the environmental)
Summary:
The achievements of modern medicine and biology combined with the technological advancements pose questions which Bioethics and Ethics of the Environment are called upon to answer. The study and the handling of these problems are interdisciplinary, since humans are multidimensional beings. Therefore, doctors, biotechnologists, philosophers, theologians, psychologists, sociologists, lawyers and others are called upon to cooperate to resolve these issues. This study will focus on the contribution of Orthodox Theology to addressing Bioethics’ and Environmental Ethics, problems through the church fathers’ perspective and the risks that the inadvertent exposure of the fetus to environmental factors involves. The church fathers’ perspective on the relationship between “universal nature” and “human face” is the opposite of the archaeological one. The ancient Greek perspective promotes the cosmological naturecentric approach (the person is approached through nature and the grace is approached through the supernatural), while the Greek fathers’ perspective promotes the eschatological human centered approach ( the “face” is the foundation, the axle and the end of man. The human “face” is made “in the image and likeness of God”).
