Assessment of the quality of life and the interpersonal type of relationship between caregivers of cancer patients and caregivers of patients with memory disorders.

Dementia and cancer are chronic and evolutionary diseases with millions of patients worldwide, while the epidemiological surveys consider further increase in percentages.
This study concerns adults that provide care to a relative suffering from either dementia or cancer and the basic aim is to investigate their quality of life and attachment style of personal relationships.
We undertake to measure key areas of everyday life that compose the quality of life and to record the type of interaction which caregivers have with people they mix. We seek to provide answers on whether these two population groups face the same or different challenges in daily life and if they have common characteristics in the way they create personal relationships.
The study conducted was based on literature review of international and Greek bibliography. The results showed no statistically significant differentiation of the two groups of caregivers, nor as to quality of life, nor as to the type of interpersonal bond.
