Summary:
The current study examines the epistemological examples that teachers of the Secondary Education choose to follow when teaching literature. Particularly, this study aims to determine whether Literature’s Theories are being utilized by the teachers, in what degree and with what purpose, so that we can then identify the epistemological examples that are being applied. What we are mainly interested in are the ‘’tools’’ that each teacher derives from the big variety of Literature’s Theories in order to establish their own professional profile. Bibliographic review of the Literature’s Theories and their implementation within the school’s context is being followed by collection and analysis of the data. More specifically, this research project involves a case study that engages six school teachers during the academic year 2015-2016. Data collection techniques include systematic observation, interviewing and use of questionnaires for their students. The results indicate that elements from all the Literature’s Theories are being utilized by teachers, through various innovative and non-innovative techniques, for the development of the students’ reading skills. Finally, there is discussion and explanation of the results and suggestions for future research.
