Summary:
In the context of this paper we are attempting to investigate the family educational practices adopted by parents as well as the study of school choice in relation to the classification of parents. The survey was carried out at a public primary school in the center of Athens, which allegedly has the reputation og a "good" schoo, resulting in a pole of attraction for Greek parents. Thw research involved parents of children of the particular school attending Δ,Ε Στ classes. Part of tte parents circumvented the geographical criterion for enrollment and adopted the practice of informal public school choice. Research findings show that parentaql class position defines family educational practices and strategies regarding the school choice. It was also shown that 'good" reputation is due to the homogeneous school composition, to the school building, to the leadership and finally to the active club of parents
