Summary:
Nowadays, societies show increased sensitivity to the need for widespread education to all inspective of their members. This means there has been an increasing interest at a global level in inclusive discourse seen as a new educational approach reflecting the heterogeneity of the students’ population. Inclusive education refers to an education system that provides opportunities to all students without exception, promotes acceptance of diversity and is interwoven with societies of equality.
According to international research, teachers as key players in the educational process are crucial to implementation of any educational reform and thus to promoting inclusion. The education of teachers in general and of special educators especially, as if they are more involved with the education of children with disabilities or special educational needs, is a major factor in shaping their attitudes towards the institution of integration. It affects to a great extent the teaching practices that they subsequently apply to the daily teaching practice. Therefore, the inclusive character of Postgraduate Programs of "Special Education" is directly linked to the subsequent effective implementation or not of the principles of inclusion into practice.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the views of 138 postgraduates of 6 Greek Master Degree Courses of Special Education for disability and inclusive education. Based on the survey data, the purpose and the research questions, the quantitative method -and particularly the use of a questionnaire to gather information- was considered as the most appropriate method of this approach. In this investigation, the statistical analysis of the findings were made by the statistical data analysis package SPSS, with the help of which multiple data tables were produced, frequencies N were calculated, as well as the parametric frequencies x2.
