Summary:
The study deals with the subject of love in its guise as abandonment and the persistence of the abandoned woman as presented in the novel “Animal triste” by Monica Maron, which has not yet been translated into Greek. In order to arrive at the best possible translation, an attempt has been made to identify the atmosphere of this particular work by comparing it with two dramatic plays of World literature: The “Human Voice” by Jean Cocto and “Salome” by Oscar Wilde, which share the same theme/similar themes. Through the unexpected encounter and conflict of the three heroines, Maron’s character is better depicted in this study and decisions are made on the best possible translation.
