Independent Music Stages: Youth communities dating from the squatt movement to the present date counterculture

The main theme of this dissertation is a research on the independent music domain called “Music Stoa”. It starts with information on the squatting movement in Greece and other Western European countries, so as to create a chronological margin where to place the independent music movement in our country. Then follows a recount of the members of the group selecting the most interesting ideas that they offered for my research, such as, among others, how this area functions, what makes it so special, its political identity, and the philosophical basis on which is sprang. Based on certain theories and conclusions for my research I have come to realize the great role that certain countercultures played in the formation of the main culture.
Finally, the aim of this research is to show the cultural dimensions of the independent music communities, which have been growing even more rapidly during the economic crisis in Greece, over the last few years.
