Summary:
The main objective of this work is to translate French texts which have not come yet to light in their Greek form; texts with a specific literary sign: on the fringes of symbolism and decadent tendencies; texts whose author has manifest aesthetic peculiarities as well as the tendency to exploit and the ease to use many linguistic levels. So, four short stories by Marcel Schwob have been selected from the Coeur double collection, where the heteroclite feature exists in both content and form. Thus, its second objective is to analyze the basic translation choices, the translation line followed. There will be an effort to combine exploration through the literary analysis of the basic translational issues of each short story and the preservation of the letter through the avoidance of the deforming tendencies enumerated in Antoine Berman’s analytical path. It will be shown, for this endeavor, that one of the most important aspects of literature, artfulness, coincides with the letter, which Berman favors, since it is identical to the writer’s rhetorical choices, his linguistic choices and his way he decides to structure his ideas.
