"Greek banking crisis: the problem of non-performing loans"
Summary:
The Greek economy has been largely hit by the global financial crisis. The fall of GDP and rise of unemployment affected both the businesses and households, which were left with the loans that they could no longer afford to service. The amount of non performing exposures has been drastically increasing since 2008. and is currently the most important challenge that the Greek banking sector is facing. The paper will address the problem, and the measures that were implemented up until now with an attempt to resolve the issue.
