Summary:
The aim of the dissertation is to explore the role of the social solidarity structures, which have been active in providing social care to vulnerable social groups during the financial crisis in Greece. These structures consist of social medical centers and pharmacies, social grocery stores, "time banks", social hospitality services as well as hostels and dormitories for homeless people. More specifically, the research project aims to investigate the contribution of the above social solidarity structures as innovative ones, towards the eradication of poverty and social exclusion of diverse and vulnerable social groups. For this reason, field research was designed and conducted in social solidarity structures across the county of Athens.
