Social mobility and economic identity: Literature narratives about the french restoration society as sources of sociological analysis.
Summary:
In literary texts by writers such as H. Balzac and H. Stendhal we found a detailed depiction of the social economic and political reality of France at the time of the Restoration (1815-1848). Recognizing that literary recordings can be used as sources of sociological analysis, sociological analysis is made through these issues of social mobility in relation to the economic identity of the socially ascending subject in the particular historical period as recorded in the Red and Black of Stendhal and Pere-Gorio of Balzac. The aim is the effective sociological mapping of two socially emerging subjects who follow different social trajectories with connecting and differentiating elements between them. The focus will be on issues of social action, fields, capital, and networking that are capable of producing particular beneficial or adverse effects on the social paths under consideration. The main theoretical sociological tools for analyzing the social trajectories recorded in the above works are the concept of habitus as presented in Pierre Bourdieu's work, theories of cultural and social capital, network theories, and the theory of Desires, Beliefs and Opportunities of P. Hedstrom .
