Summary:
Intercultural misunderstandings are a commonly treated subject in the fields of intercultural communication. However, their management is a relatively unknown subject. This research aims to study the ways of managing intercultural misunderstandings of foreign students and employees living in Greece. Through the content analysis of online published testimonies and interviews, the goal of this study is to discern the different types of intercultural misunderstanding management and to highlight the causes behind its emergence, the factors that influence the choice of certain management styles and the reasons that prevent or facilitate its resolution. This multidisciplinary research draws influence by the fields of intercultural communication, linguistics, psychology and intercultural management. The results of this research constitute a point of reflexion on the following issues: the complexity of this phenomenon and the need to develop an intercultural sensitivity and conscience.
