The frozen expressions and their iconic representation for an intermedial approach of the french as a foreign language.

The present thesis was carried out in the framework of the Greek-French Postgraduate Programme " Teachers of languages in Europe: training in the linguistic and cultural diversity of the school populations". The aim of this study is to determine the effect of illustration on understanding the frozen expressions of the French language. In order to have concrete results, we used a combination of tools and we proceeded in a qualitative research upon a Greek-speaking public composed of people with studies in teaching French as a foreign language. Firstly, we distributed the questionnaires and after that, we continued with semi-structured interviews. We opted to examine if images facilitate the process of teaching and learning the French frozen expressions in cases of complete, partial and zero equivalence. Finally, an attempt was made in order to examine the memorization of frozen expressions used in the questionnaires.
