Loneliness, psychopathology and narcissism in emerging adulthood

This paper is a research about loneliness, psychopathology and narcissism in emerging adulthood, which was held in a Greek sample of emerging adults (N=313). The paper begins with psychoanalytic concepts about loneliness and its origins and presents its link between psychopathology and narcissism. The results indicate generally low levels of loneliness and narcissism in Greek emerging adults, but also some medium levels of psychopathology, with anxiety being the most intense. Significant relation between and loneliness and psychopathology was found, but no relation was found between narcissism and loneliness or narcissism and psychopathology. Narcissism found not to have a significant impact in the relation between loneliness and psychopathology. Significant relation was also found between some other social variables and the main variables. The discussion includes the points of all the findings and the main research limitations.
