The importance of Strategic Intelligence Analysis for modern criminal environment
Summary:
The overall purpose of the research study is to shed light upon the crucial role and the significance of strategic intelligence anslysis in combating organized crime, terrorism and disorder. Thus, strategic intelligence analysis is approached as not only an explanatory tool of the complex modern criminal environment but also as a supportive tool for rational decision-makingprocess.
Subsequently, this paper illustrates a number of contemporary characteristics of the new predominant policing doctrine, namely the intelligence-led Policing (ILP) model, with emphasis put on prioritization of threats as well as the allocation of human and material resources.
A constituent part, in terms of interpreting the specific mental and technical processes that underprin strategic intelligence analysis, is the so-called "Intelligence Cycle" , characterized by six major steps ,through which raw data and information are converted into value-added actionable intelligence.
Finally, the study aspires to underscore that strategic intelligence analysis is to be a "game changer" in the context of maintaining decision-makers via a holistic informational picture and situational awareness of crime environment.
