"Academic and administrative structure and function of the Hellenic Open University. Research and critical approach."

Abstract
The purpose of the following dissertation is to present and analyse the academic and administrative structure of the organizational structure and function of the Hellenic Open University (H.O.U.). It focuses on highlighting the specific features that constitute its distinctive physiognomy. Moreover, the innovations that the specific institution has brought about in the field of the Hellenic upper education are also presented. The dissertation has been based on case study, throughout which, data from the official website of the institution have been integrated along with the aid of available bibliography and relevant case-law. As far as the content of the individual parts, which this dissertation is structured around, is concerned initially, the conditions as well as the historic framework on which the Open University was founded are presented. Subsequently, reference is made to its multi/single member administrative institutions while at the same time its academic and administrative function are analysed. Finally, the conclusions to the research questions are set out while an attempt to assess and evaluate the overall activity and function of the institution is being made.
