Summary:
The present assignment’s purpose is to highlight the content of the social worker’s job in the maternity clinic.
Initially, there is a brief report on the pregnancy stages, the physical and psychological transitions a woman faces during pregnancy.
On the 1st chapter there is an introduction to the concept of Social Work as a profession and how it is related with the Maternity sector, including a brief historical review.
Continuing, on the 2nd chapter, the “multi-dimentional” role of the social worker in the maternity clinic is being analysed.
On the 4th chapter, there is a report on the models of intervention in Social Work and to continue, on the 5th chapter, there is an analysis of the three basic stages of intervention of the professional social worker in the maternity clinic.
The 6th chapter refers to the skills obtained by the social worker with the passing of time, the professional and personal maturation that helps him/her to be efficient as a professional.
The 7th chapter, stresses the fact that there are some difficult situations and moral dilemma’s, which often bring the social worker in an uncomfortable professional and even personal position. Therefore , ways of dealing with the problems are being proposed.
The assignment ends with the basic basic conclusions. Furthermore proposals of improvement of the social services in the maternity clinics are being made.
