Summary:
Human’s nutrition is closelylinked to his health which also affects.Choosing a good and balanced diet, that is proper nutrition,is a prerequisite for the health of the individual and improves his activities while contributing to his longevity and happiness.

A healthy fed person appears macroscopically lively, physically and intellectually endowed with optimism about life and at the ame time resists more effectivelythe various infections,resulting in the prolongation of his physiological activity.

In the event of a pregnancy,the pregnant’s diet demands special attention. The expectant mother to give birth to a healthy child and to secure her own health must follow a well balanced diet during pregnancy, with increased amounts of all nutrients.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether Greek women :
• if the weight of the pregnant women relate with the weight of the baby, the beginning and the outcome of the labour
• If their eating habits change during pregnancy
• If gynecologists and midwives can guide them properly for the diet plan to follow


The sample of the present study consisted of 193 pregnant women from a large maternity hospital in Athens, who were constantly treated by their gynecologists. During their stay in the maternity ward, women were constantly completed the following questionnaires: WIC NUTRITION QUESTIONNAIRE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN και HEALTH AND NUTRITION QUESTIONNAIRE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN, which had been translated into Greek. The statistical analysis was done with SPSS.
