Summary:
SUMMARY
In the recent years, constructive learning theory has gained ground and tends to rapidly replace the old traditional learning model and the behavioral "paradigm" that is still applied at schools in Greece. Constructive pedagogical approaches and teaching methodologies promoted in integrated curricula are now more dynamically integrated into pedagogical practice. One of the programs features is that they develop an authentic learning environment in which students "learn how to learn" by enhancing their critical ability and cultivating diverse skills such as participation, empirical, experimental and collaborative skills. In addition, the educator assumes the role of the assistant, the associate/mediator and mediator in the learning process. In Greece, the first attempts to integrate knowledge into schools began from Alexander Delmuzos (1929) with the Integrated Concentrated Teaching (I.C.T.) which lasted until the 1950-60s. Only from 2000 onwards, the attempts to consolidate knowledge will find ground in Greece.
In the current diploma thesis, integration of the knowledge of the Chemistry curriculum in the schoolbook of the 3rd class of Secondary School in relation to other natural sciences will be explored. The research design and process of this postgraduate thesis aim to assess the degree of interdisciplinary or/and cross curricular thematic approach in the integration of the knowledge of Chemistry with natural sciences at 3rd class of Secondary School. In addition, the analyses and findings of the research to be obtained from this postgraduate research will be interpreted based on the current Greek and foreign bibliography.
Finally, integrated curriculum suggestions in the school Chemistry curriculum of the 3rd class of Secondary School will take place in relation to the natural sciences in order to further attract students' interest, to acquire unified knowledge and to improve the understanding of the course of Chemistry.
