The New Rehabilitation Models
Summary:
The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part provides a description of the main ideological models and relative trends in the field of anticrime policy, which were and continue to be dominant worldwide. Furthermore, the destructive consequences of the implementation of severe anti-crime repressive measures in the late modernity period and the risk society, are examined. In the second part, the historical routes and the general characteristics of the rehabilitation model are presented, as well as the revival of the latter in a new, more humanitarian, form. Connection is made between the “New Rehabilitationism” and the procedures for offender risk assessment. Finally, the general characteristics and potentials of practical application of the two basic models of offender rehabilitation, i.e. RNR and GLM, are examined and compared.
