Summary:
This paper examines various types of shipping financing. The focus is mainly on describing all modern ways of financing and developing the relevant legal issues. The Introduction refers to the forms of financing over the years and to the one ship company, as the main subject of financing. The First Chapter analyses the financing through bank lending, its types, terms and collateral. Afterwards, the shipping finance process through the financial markets and especially through the capital market is described. The above chapter analyzes the listing on the international capital markets and the listing on the Athens Stock Exchange, Law 3401/2005, the dual listing and the consequences of listing in terms of company law. The following chapter deals with bond loan financing, namely Law 3156/2003, types of bond loan, legal bond issuer and bondholders, bondholders' meeting and bonds. Subsequently, other forms of financing, such as equity, private placement, leasing and mezzanine financing, are considered. In all forms of financing, the advantages and disadvantages are addressed. Finally, the conclusions of the paper are presented.
