E-learning and learning supported by asynchronous education platforms and wireless mobile devices (Mobile Learning)

The rapid evolution of Information and Communication Technologies is constantly changing the field of education. Their input and application to the learning process creates a new learning environment, which can be supported by mobile devices as well. Thus a new field emerges in the field of education, mobile learning, which is an evolution of e-learning. Supporting factors for mobile learning are asynchronous education platforms that can be used in the classroom.
The subject of this thesis is the extensive study of e-learning and learning supported by asynchronous education platforms and Mobile Learning. More specifically, an educational intervention was designed with the use of e-Front platform (e-arsakeio).
The subject of the educational intervention was a chapter of the Greek history school manual of the 6th grade and had the following title: "From the Geographical Discoveries to the Enlightenment". Learning activities were designed according to the curriculum objectives and the possibilities offered by the e-Front platform (e-arsakeio).
The work is completed with the presentation of the advantages of the present educational application, as well as the conclusions resulting from the use of the e-Front platform in the educational practice.
