Summary:
The main aim of this thesis is to examine the judicial sales of ships and their recognition by foreign jurisdictions. The thesis is structured in three main chapters. The first chapter highlights the key aspects of the judicial sales of ships and presents the relevant international case law. The second chapter focuses on CMI’s “Draft Convention on Judicial Sales of Ships”, analyzing its most important provisions. Finally, the third chapter identifies the similarities and differences in the judicial sale procedure between the jurisdictions of Greece and England, examining the details of both procedures from the point of the arrest of the ship to the ranking of claims & the recognition of foreign judicial sales.
