Self-esteem, anxiety and symptoms of depression in children at resource class
Summary:
The main aim of this research is to study the dimensions of self-esteem, anxiety and depression in children with learning disabilities who attend the resource classes. For this purpose is given questions to 191 students. Among these children 60 of them attend the resources classes and the rest of them (131) attend the typical classes. During the study, the comparison of these three dimensions is accomplished. More specifically, self-esteem, anxiety and depression of normal children is relation to children with learning disabilities are compared.
As a result from this comparison, it appears that the children with learning disabilities have lower self-esteem, higher level of anxiety and depression compared to the other children. Furthermore, it seems that there is a negative coherence between the variables of self-esteem and anxiety, between self-esteem and depression and positive coherence between anxiety and depression. Finally, it appears that there is no relation between sex and the factor of low self-esteem, anxiety and depression to children.
