Summary:
Humor and expectations of self-efficacy are two factors that are combined by
individuals to manage a variety of situations that can be stressful. The high sense of
humor and the high expectations of self-efficacy are great tools for dealing with stressful
situations, as when humor is used and someone is spoiled for his abilities, anxiety
becomes manageable. The purpose of this research is to investigate the correlation of the
levels of self-efficacy with the levels of humor in the management of various, stressful
situations. These stressful situations, in the case of the teenagers under consideration, are
created by their attempts to cope with difficult situations of their daily routine, whether
social, learning or psychological. A specific objective of the survey was to investigate the
effect of certain demographic variables on humor and self-efficacy. The sample of the
survey consists of 200 pupils attending the three grades of junior high school. In the
survey, the Coping Humor of Martin and Lefcourt (1983) and the Scale Self-efficacy
Scale of Sherer, Maddux, Mercandante, Prentice-Dunn, Jacobs and Rogers (1982) were
used. From the results it became clear that there are statistically significant differences in
humor scales, general self-efficacy and specific self-efficacy in gender, number of sibling
boys and classroom attendance. Finally, the positive correlation of general self-efficacy
and specific self-efficacy, as well as the correlation of the score with the score of humor,
was found.
