SCIENCES AND CHURCH THE PERIOD OF MODERN GREEK ENLIGHTENMENT (18o - 19o CENTURY a. D.)

The relationship between religion and science has been studied several times. The present study analyzes the relationship between the Church and the Science during the period of Modern Greek Enlightenment; specifically the period from the middle of the 17th century, where we identify the beginning of Modern Greek Science until the Greek Revolution. This research aims to discuss the influence of the main representatives of the Modern Greek Enlightenment, their ideological conflicts, their controversies, their interventions, as well as the attacks that the representatives of the New Science received from the conservative circles of the Church, mainly concerning the teaching philosophy of the New Science and the Natural Sciences.
