The creation of a pshychological intervention for women, who suffer from turner's syndrome.
the diagnosis of a rare disease often causes difficulties.these difficulties are related with the increase in anxiety level of patients as well as the establishment of some dysfunctional beliefs. in ths way, the present dissertation aimed to determine if the psychological intervention, which is described below, is effective in reducing the anxiety level as well as changing the dysfunctional beliefs of patients suffering from turner's syndrome. more specifically, this intervention is characterized by the implementation of group therapies and individual discussions during the intervention. moreover, this intervention is characterized by the influences from the cognitive behavioral theory . finally, the third feature of this intervention is the small period of time that lasted given the fact that there were only five (5) group discussions with the participants . the equivalent number for the individual sessions was one (1). for the purposes of this dissertation there were handed out the stai questionnaire as well as the b-ipq test before and after the end of the phychological intervention. these questionnaires were analyzed by using the instructions of their constructors. the goal of this stage was to define the differences between these two phases. these questionnaires also examined carefully the anxiety variable and the changes of the personal beliefs of the patients. the anxiety as well as the personal beliefs were the basic variables of the present dissertation. from the data analysis it came out that the current pilot program wasn' t efficient at reducing the stress levels of these women because there was an increase in the stai questionnaire’s results in two participants. in addition, it's worth saying, that this intervention had a very strong impact on the women suffering from turner's syndrome regarding the dysfunctional beliefs' variable. the cause of this was the observation of changes to the cognitive schemes of the participants.
