The research explores the rise of populism in the post-truth era, taking into account the production and spreading of fake news via the Internet and social media, in connection with the Trump election. The research also explores, how Donald Trump uses the new media, as well as how he is placed as a political personality, towards the traditional media, while he questions their credibility by accusing them for producing fake news. At the same time, the research focuses on the characteristics of populism and propaganda in the rhetoric of the President of the United States, as a strategic tool of persuasion.
