Η επαγγελματική ταυτότητα των εκπαιδευτικών της δεύτερης γενιάς από την Αλβανία
Translated title:
The professional identity of second generation Albanian teachers
Summary:
This study aims at investigating the ways in which second generation immigrant teachers from Albania construct their professional identity in conjunction with other factors such as social gender, ethnicity and social background. In the survey participated six in service primary education teachers, five of them being of Albanian origin and the other one ethnic Greek. Research findings showed that they had internalized the mainstream values that are legitimated by the monocultural Greek education system and were unwilling to intervene and transform national curriculum. The results also showed that these teachers hesitated to communicate their different identity to their students and fellow teachers. Nevertheless, their presence in Greek public schools was considered as a positive fact by their Albanian- origin students and their parents.
