Summary:
This thesis examines the problem of evaluating the sensitivity
of performance measures to changes in system parameters for a class of stochastic models. The technique presented is called (Infinitesimal
Perturbation Analysis - IPA) and evaluates said sensitivities using sample paths that are generated via simulation. The first chapter begins with an overview, based on the single machine model. After that, we address the underlying theoretical issues and use the developed techniques on the previously presented model. Finally, we discuss a variety of examples of production networks.
