The use of cyclosporin A in the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria: meta-analysis of clinical trials
Summary:
The vacuum in the literature that this meta - analysis attempts to cover is the role of Ciclosporin A (CsA) in chronic idiopathic urticaria (XIK) as an immunomodulator and not as a simple symptom cure. The therapeutic algorithm is based on the Level of Evidence and the Class of Recommendations. According either to EAACI categorization (GRADE or SIGN) or to AAAAI, CsA administration is considered to be low (1- or 1-) or IB Evidence Level, respectively. This is due to the fact that to date, a systematic review and meta-analysis of the randomized clinical trials of CsA use in CHIC is missing from the international literature.
This diploma thesis aims at finding the published clinical trials in the international literature, as well as the critical assessment of their validity and bias in relation to the administration of cyclosporin for CHIC.
Finally, in the framework of the diplomatic, meta-analysis for the risk of bias of the included clinical trials, their heterogeneity and the publication bias is performed in order to assess the efficacy in all cases with chronic urticaria .
