Μια ανάλυση του αισθήματος του ανοίκειου στο διήγημα «Ζάντμαν» του Ε. Τ. Α. Χόφμαν, με όρους δύο οπτικών μοντέλων στη νεότερη φιλοσοφία.
Translated title:
An analysis of the feeling of the uncanny in E .T. A. Hoffman' s Sandman by terms of two optic models of modern philosophy
Summary:
In this project I have attempted to analyse the feeling of uncanny in E. T. A. Hoffmann’ s “Sandman”, making use of the terms of two optic models, characteristics of whom are to be found in the novel’s descriptions. My initial goal is the recognition of the cognitive representations as these are gradually formed by the protagonist as he slips in the feeling of the uncanny. Freud’s remarks in his essay on the uncanny have been used on a primary basis in order to detect the subtle futures of the term. In order to discern the character of representations formed by the
protagonist, the theory of optics of the 17th century has been employed. If we attempt to incorporate the protagonist’s representations in the novel’s structure, we ‘ll observe that the optic representations wich are formed in the readers mind, have characteristics that lead to the functions of the binoculars and the stereoscope.
