The views of primary school teachers on the role of communication and collaboration between the manager and the teaching staff in the effective operation of the school unit

Summary:

This post-graduate paper focuses on exploring the views and attitudes of Primary Education teachers on communication and collaboration with the school head. Issues investigated, such as the description and analysis of the communication phenomenon within the school unit, the obstacles that arise in practice and leading to inefficient communication as well as the benefits for the school unit from the effective communication and cooperation of the manager with the teaching staff. He also studied the role of the director in shaping the collaborative culture and whether his communication skills ensure the smooth functioning of the school unit.
In order to investigate and respond to the research questions, quantitative research has been carried out. The data were obtained as a research tool for the questionnaire, following the procedure of convenient sampling.
The examination of the findings found that managers and teachers regard communication and cooperation as key factors for the efficient functioning of the school and that good interpersonal relationships create a cooperative climate that affects positively all members of the educational community.
