The teacher's pedagogical competence as prerequisite for their appointment to the Secondary Education in countries-members of the European Union.
Summary:
The study below aims to reveal how the initial teacher education is embracing the pedagogical knowledge both theoretically and practically. This comparative analysis shows the ways that the educational systems of nine european countries (Greece, France, Germany, England, Finland, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Cyprus) focuses on the pedagogical science and utilizes it for their teacher’s induction. It also shows aspects of this preparation as a prerequisite for theacher’s school career. This preparation concerns two aspects of pedagogical training, the ‘‘consecutive model’’, which means that the programme of professional education training is undertaken once an undergraduate degree has been obtained and the ‘‘concurrent model’’, where teacher training is combined with a degree. Finally, the study argues that the pedagogical factor attributes significantly to the success of the school system in general.
