Summary:
In the context of this diploma thesis, the observational documentary titled "Life Between the Valleys” and it refers to the life of traditional shepherds in the Giona mountains" is described and analyzed. This work takes place in Doris region and is part of the observational cinema, a trend of ethnographic documentary which first appeared during the 70s.The documentary is about the lives of two shepherds that consciously stay out of the modernization of livestock farming continuing to work today by traditional means. The film narrates by using participatory observation and onsite research, the lives of the shepherds, their relationships with nature and their place of work as these are determined by the weather and the seasons. The work presents a part of the documentary that is still under way and will be completed with the coming of the summer solstice.
