THE GREEK EDUCATION IN A MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY: INLFUENCES OF CANADIAN GREEK SCHOOLS ON THE CULTURAL COHESION OF GREEK COMMUNITIES
Summary:
In the present study an attempt is being made to study and explore the concepts of "multiculturalism" and "interculturalism", and their integration into education. More specifically, the principles, methods and models of multicultural and intercultural education, as well as their applications, are studied. Then there is a survey of social relationships that are developed within a multicultural classroom, and more specifically in those relationships that concern Greek schools in a host country, Canada. In addition, the effects of Greek schools in this country, the education institutions and the types of these institutions are reported. Finally, there is a case study of a Greek school in Canada, and more specifically in Montreal.
