The oral corrective feedback per linguistic level in adult students learning Greek as a second language: The teckniques used by instructors per language level
Summary:
Oral corrective feedback as a method to correct a student's mistake includes various correction techniques which have been widely studied as much for their function and effectiveness as for their suitability. The aim of this project is to research the relationship of the corrective research techniques with the language level in practice, for the Greek language as a second language. Research was conducted on the corrective feedback techniques that are used by scholars who teach the Greek language to foreign students in three hour lessons via observation grids that had been completed by the students of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Recast, metalinguistic signal, elicitation and paralinguistic clues were chosen. The results showed that although there were differences regarding how the technique was used, the scholars used a combination of techniques at all levels. Finally, it was noted that the metalinguistic signal technique is the least used technique at the three levels.
