The passing of the Justice and its balancing work in Aeschylus Oresteia
Summary:
This diploma thesis explores the mythological background of Aeschylus trilogy Oresteia and the action of the heroes, based on the transformative models of action. These models record the action of each tragedy, based on the principles of incitement and acceptance. Each model, from the legend till the story of Orestis, crystallizes who was the main actor of action, his allies or enemies, and the effects of his actions. It is attempted to trace the concept of Justice from the distant mythological past to the moment of the trial of Orestis before the Athenian people. Special mention is made to the processes that led to the transformation of Justice, from an abstract perspective into a lawsuit. In addition, a number of sociological and anthropological issues are analyzed, such as the relations of people with gods, the legal system, the social gender, the concept of being a citizen and finally, an attempt is made to update them and explain through them the modern reality.
