Summary:
This dissertation aims to evaluate the impact of an international program of cultural and educational exchanges and its role in the formation of a global education culture in relation to theories of international governance. More specifically the present study investigates the impact of the program “SUSI for secondary school educators and scholars”, offered within the framework of the “Fulbright Foundation” scholarships with the view to evaluate its impact on a local, national and transnational level. 38 alumni from Greece and abroad participated in the research. The study evaluated the impact of the SUSI program on their personal and professional life as well as their international perspective and understanding of current global education trends. The data was harvested through a questionnaire and interviews. The results showed that the SUSI program was evaluated very positively by all of the participants for the impact it had on their personal and professional lives. In addition, the qualitative evaluation of the empirical data revealed that SUSI has a dynamic that continues well after the program, since the Fulbright alumni, as social actors, constantly exchange ideas, resources and activities, thus exerting an important influence in the human societies and the educational communities in which they live and work.
