Modeling & simulation of business processes of the coronary care unit in a public hospital.
Summary:
The health care sector, and in particular hospital care, is characterized by complex procedures, with high resource requirements, which makes it necessary to upgrade the management capability of healthcare institutions, in order to provide high-quality health services. Within this context, Business Processes Modeling is considered an important means for improving the efficiency and quality of processes and, by extension the services provided by an institute, as it allows a comprehensive review and radical redesigning of the business processes.
This thesis deals with the modeling of a business process in the coronary care unit of a public hospital, using the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and the experimental simulation methodology, through the Bizagi Modeler information tool. In particular, it is attempted to create appropriate models for capturing the current state of the process and exploring alternative scenarios, in order to identify the points that need to be improved and determine the appropriate combination of parameters to redesign the process so as to achieve the best possible outcome.
