A comparative efficacy study of four topical applications on atopic dermatitis-like skin lesions in hairless mice
Summary:
In this study we investigate the efficacy of four topical applications on atopic dermatitis-like skin lesions in hairless mice. Firstly, in order to choose between the strains SKH-1 and SKH-2, 20 female mice were sensitized with 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (DNCB) which lead to lesions with dryness, scaling, thickening and acute inflammation. The SKH-1 mice demonstrated more severe lesions and were the used strain for the efficacy study.
The topical aplications used in this study were:
1. an emulsion of a mixture of herbal extracts
2. a cream of chlorocresol
3. an ointment of oleic extract of the isopod Ceratotheoa oestroides
4. a gel of oleocanthal and oleasein
