Summary:
Introduction: Homelessness is a phenomenon in recent decadesthat makes increasingly strong presence in the urban landscape of modern western cities, and it is a fact that is increasing today, in the era of global economic crisis. The phenomenon of homelessness is found on a massive scale in our crowd and it affects the local population, although cases in Greece in the past were relatively few and they concerned mostly the population of immigrants. Homelessness in Greece is rather late compared to its launch in other Europeans crowdies.
Purpose-Methodology: The purpose of this study was to estimate the turnout causes of people who are under any form of homelessness, the Day Centre clinic Homeless.
The study population consisted of 321 patients who visited the clinic of the Day Centre from 01/01/2014 up to 06/30/2014, for examination and diagnosis of health problems. Data collection took place from July 2014 up to and including October 2014.
Results: According to the results of this study it can be stated in general terms that this population falls into the category 'homeless on the street. " In other words, for people who live on the street, in public or outdoors, without accommodation to be considered a place of residence or living in areas for emergency situations, such as night in hostels or substandard accommodation. The majority of homeless in this study are Europeans. The majority of the homeless of the study visited the day center had to come because of health problems. The main reason for visiting the day center was mainly due to infections experienced while many were those who had problems both cutaneous and musculoskeletal.
Conclusions: In conclusion, the present study shows that in our crowd, there is no official definition of a group of homeless people, which results in the lack of public prevention policies and effectively confront the needs of this vulnerable population group. Several local institutions try to confront this lack by implementing various homeless support programs mainly local . Some initiatives have been developed by NGOs.The problem of homelessness needs immediate and targeted operations, as it seems to be exacerbated taking adequate size, not only in the capital, but throughout the crowd.
