Contribution to a Theory - Philosophy, Aesthetics and History - of Photography
Summary:
How can Photography, as material and physical process, be circulated in the public domain and how in the private? What are the limitations and limits in this? How does the naturalness and materiality of the photographic object transform into meaning? And in the end, can we give a clear answer to the question that has already been raised by the introduction of this work in relation to what exactly is what we are theorizing about photography? Or even to the question posed by Burgin "What is really the thing that we call photography?" In the "Brief History of Photography," Benjamin manages to create a remarkable and useful model, embodying technology issues and exploring its relationship and interaction with the social, political and psychological parameters of time, with the ultimate aim of deepening his analysis of several of the above questions. Thus, according to the above and given the ever increasing power and presence of digital photography and the image in general, questions mentioned and cited in this work on photography and materiality of the image become even more imperative, urgent and productive for dialogue.
