Summary:
The role of the teacher in the new educational reality, as it has been created in the societies of the twenty first century, is multidimensional. The changes of all the different life sectors in local, national and international level have had an impact on education in general, while changing the role of the teacher. Thus, apart from having a social impact, the teacher is also a counselor- guide for the newcomers in a school (mentor), a counselor for students and parents, a power authority, a scientist, as well as practicing and applying the official policy. The current study is examining the aforementioned role of the teacher. In particular, we will examine all the dimensions of the role of the teacher in all the contexts. Simultaneously, we will focus on the supportive- counseling role of the teacher, as well as at the ways in which they can form essential relationships through their personal experiences, in the school environment and with students with special educational needs. We will also quote the plethora of elements that form the multidimensional role of the teacher on class level, school level, as well as on the wider level of society and culture in which they act.
