Summary:
In 2017, 1.2 million asylum applications were filed, and more than 5,000 people were reported dead or missing as they tried to reach Europe. The magnitude of migratory flows indicates that a larger scale response is required. Recently, EU leaders have taken more decisions to eliminate the flow of immigrants along the central Mediterranean route. But what are the problems that arise from this situation? What are the main impacts, factors and solutions? And how is this fundamental issue addressed in Greece? This paper examines the issue of migratory-refugee flow management in Europe.
