Summary:
Christianity as the church of Christ, was founded on the day of the Pentecost, with the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. Since then, Christianity has manifested itself as teaching and Divine worship. The vital part of the Divine worship is the Divine Liturgy. Apart from the Divine Liturgy of Ioannis Chrysostomos and the Great Vasileios, there is a third kind of Liturgy. The Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts which occurs every morning during the fourty - days period of the Great Lent (weekends excluded). The Communion Hymn of the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, includes the words: «Taste and See that the Lord is Good• Alleluia». Ιn the first section of this assignment, the Liturgical Analysis of the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts and the Typical Analysis of the Communion Hymn are presented. Then, the melodic compostitions of the Communion Hymn are presented as they were derived from the study of the music manuscript catalogs. Furthermore, facts and elements describing the life and opus of the composers are presented too. Particular analysis is made to the Communion Hymn «Taste and See..» by Ioannis Kladas in First tone, which is mentioned to every music manuscript and from 15th until the 19th century BC. Finally, a melodic and morphological analysis of the compositions of the Communion Hymn is attempted in the selected tones First and Plagal of the First.
