Summary:
The scope of this study is to reconstruct the paleo-environmental conditions prevailing during the pre-evaporitic sedimentary sequence at Faneromeni section on the island of Crete. The present study is a composition based on sedimentological, micropaleontological (qualitative and quantitative analysis of planktonic foraminifera during the Late Miocene), and mineralogical analyses. Planktonic foraminifera were used for biostratigraphic analysis and the sea surface circulation of this part of the Mediterranean, during the Late Miocene. This work focuses, in addition to micropaleontological analyses, on geochemical analyses (isotopes and trace elements).
