Police woman's narratives and experiences
Summary:
The role and position of women in society has often been the subject of public interest and dialogue. Despite the fact that gender equality has been legally and typically acquired, there is a question that has been raised in several cases: whether and to what extent this equality is essential. Indeed, it is impressive that despite the significant changes in their position in the field of employment, it has been found that their participation in the decision-making centers is small while sometimes dikes are raised in their professional career. These dikes may be due to stereotypes or prejudices. In this research paper, there will be an attempt to study the role of the woman in the police organization, from her own point of view through the answer of two research questions. The first concerns how the woman police officer recounts her experiences within the Greek Police, and the second relates to the interpersonal conflicts she experiences with her colleagues. Through her words, there will be materialized a "journey" to her life within the police force, a group with strong ties, but also to the different aspects of her identity.
