Comparative survey of chemical consistence PM10 in PAHs in areas of specific interest and estimation of contribution of sources using a receptor model (PMF)
Summary:
In the current dissertation, the ambient particulate matter (PM10) and its chemical consistence referring to the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) was studied, in areas of specific interest throughout the period between September 2015 and July 2016. The aim of the current dissertation is the schematic of the profile fluctuation of PAHs, because of the source variation in each area. In fact, the semi-urban industrial zone of the Municipal Oichalia-Messini (Meligalas, Messini) of Messinias prefecture, because of the intensive olive-productive character in the extensive area, the industrial zone of Oinophita area, which is defined by industries of variable width nuisance and the urban center of Athens (Aristotelous), which is characterized by intensive traffic congestion problem. Intensive place and time fluctuations, in PAHs levels were observed not only among study areas, but also for each one individually. The quantity determination of PAHs took place with a technical analysis GC-MS. Furthermore, it was proved the carcinogenic potency of the mixture PAHs, through the toxicity equivalent concentration (TEQ) in all the study areas. In order to determine the sources, a process of the calculations was made with two source apportionment techniques, of whose the diagnostic ratios (DR’s) were used as a prime tool for the potential estimation of the sources and the PMF model (Positive Matrix Factorization), so as to be identified reliably.
